Arrive and settle into your chosen accommodation. Each of the properties that we offer are set in and around the Rushmore Estate.
This afternoon you will be meeting the horses, all of which have an interesting story behind them. Once comfortable Angie will be taking you for your first ride out through the thick woods away from the hustle and bustle of the day to day work and life. After the ride relax and enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful location - what better way to start your trip!
This morning after a good night's sleep and breakfast you will head back to the stables to be reunited with your faithful steed. Take your camera so that you won't be disappointed as you will ride through the estate up to the hills of the Cranborne Chase to take in the spectacular views. You will be riding across King John’s hunting ground and over ancient Roman roads, and if you are lucky Angie might take you into the famous ‘circle’. A circle of beech trees that King John planted to mark the crossroads of four Roman roads. You will also view ancient Saxon burial mounds that are situated on the estate. Whilst riding out Angie will give you a history update of the 8,000 acre Estate, followed by a stop off at the local pub, The Museum Inn which was built at the orders of General Pitt Rivers who was part of the estate, and who excavated the Estate's history.
There is no doubt that this is a magical sight to see on horse back! As you are the only riders permitted on the estate this really is a truly exclusive trip never to forget. There are no cars allowed in this area and you will hardly meet a soul apart from the wonderful wildlife, peace and tranquility. You will continue on your journey passing by the local village inn where fires roar in the winter and all the food is home made and locally sourced (bare this in mind for dinner tonight - the puddings must be sampled!)
The third day, sadly, is your last chance to ride. Angie will take you on an early morning ride through the Estate where hopefully you will catch a glimpse of the wild deer in the ancient valleys and see the stunning view once more across the Cranborne Chase.
Before you go home if you like your wines then its on to sample the delights of 'Museum Wines' which you are able to purchase and take home, or for those that don't drink it's morning brunch.
Rushmore Estate really is something straight out of a Jilly Cooper novel, you need to see it to believe it, a holiday you'll never forget begging you to come back again and again!
Please note that if you book the beginner riding package you will not under any circumstances be able to canter. A 1/2 day ride is approx. 2hrs, a full day is 4hrs.

The Cranborne Chase in Wiltshire is an ancient deer forest where King John came to hunt and within which the "Chase Rights" applied from the Saxon period until 1828. A truly unique area in terms of historical landscape with a rich Archaeological heritage.
The beautiful landscape of Cranborne Chase surrounding the village is good for both walking and cycling. There are several pay and play golf courses in the area including a very pretty eighteen hole course in Rushmore park.
