Set close to the archaeological beauty spot of Creswell Crags you will find our riding centre. The yard itself, including the stables, date back to 1610. Here we offer rides for all abilities ranging from half hour beginner lessons to two hour experienced forest hacks, all with limited to no road work. Please see the sample itinerary below. You have a choice of accommodation options, choose a 2* hotel with a pool ideal for those with small children. A lovely 4* hotel with luxury spa treatments, perfect for a girls weekend or couples. A range of self catering cottages to suits all group sizes (non riders and dogs welcome too), or a leafy holiday park with a selection of 3 bedroom hot tub lodges. All are a short distance from the stables and Sherwood Forest.
Day One
Arrive today and settle into your hotel. We offer two hotels, one is a four star hotel complete with luxury spa treatment area, and the other is a 2 star hotel with swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. You can pre-book spa treatments at either hotel.
This afternoon, if time permits make the short drive over to the riding stables for your first riding lesson in the all weather outdoor sand school.
Day Two
Today your riding level will determine as to how you spend your second day (see below options). Beginner / novice riders will have a second lesson followed by a local bridleway hack which takes you out on a petal loop around the local quarry. Here the tracks are prefect for trotting and cantering if you are able to. Experienced riders will head out on a longer 2hr hack. Crossing only one quiet road you will hack along the sandy bridleways and pass through the Creswell Crags, making your way through the limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. You will continue on further to explore the endless woodland routes that this area has to offer.
Day Three
Today is your final day and by now you should have a good relationship with your horse. Today you will be riding again before heading home. Either a 1hr or 2hr ride depending on your level.

Have a go at carriage driving in our paddocks, learning to harness, put to the carriage and drive around obstacles in walk and trot. Or take a carriage drive through the archaeological beauty spot of Creswell Crags. This is a super experience for riders and non-riders alike. We also offer side saddle lessons too. To exchange a ride for the side saddle experience or the carriage drive or lesson would be an additional £30 to the advertised price.
When you are not riding (or driving) there are planty of activities in and around the forest including Creswell Crags and the tree top adventure course at Go Ape.
