Incomparable!

It felt like a home away from home! The warm welcome from Louise put us instantly at ease and Anna's patience and kindness to two older, out of shape ladies, on three hour rides was appreciated. Truly, everyone we encountered was wonderful. The rooms, the views, the rides out, the food, beautiful horses - I've run out of superlatives! And where else can you get lovely goodbye hugs?

Suitability

We are able to offer tailor-made family riding holidays from 2 - 7 nights with riding as a family group. We can also integrate pony days for children into our riding itineraries if parents would like the option to ride on their own. Please just ask and we will write a package especially for you. An example itinerary is shown below.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE _ RIDING CENTRE CLOSED

Day One

Arrive today and settle into your accommodation, a magnificent 17th century Lakeland farmhouse situated adjacent to the riding stables, providing the perfect holiday setting. The yard too is full of character, having a real Victorian feel to it with a court yard of cobbles, Victorian stalls and a traditional gin house. If you like architecturally beautiful properties then this one is for you! If time permits, we can organise a ride for you this afternoon, alternatively riding will commence tomorrow morning.

Tonight, you can visit one of the local villages for dinner just a few miles drive away.

Day Two

This morning the choice is yours, we can offer lessons for less experienced riders, half day rides or full day rides including a lunch stop. The hacking takes place in no less than 2500 acres of private estate land which comprises of miles of secluded woodland tracks (where we often come across deer and other woodland wild life). A little hack away is what is locally known as the noddle the most amazing view point offering excellent views of South Lakeland and Morecambe Bay. The horses include hunters, show cobs, a retired competitive dressage horse and a selection of trustworthy coloured cobs plus a fabulous mix of ponies; all have exceptional temperaments and will be delighted to show you their little piece of heaven. There is nothing quite like experiencing the Lake District from horse back. All the treks are supervised by an experienced and qualified guide and are suitable for all levels of rider. Lead rein treks are available for younger, less experienced riders.

Day Three

Today you can choose how long you would like to ride for again. There is plenty to do for non-riders including fishing, cycling and walking. The English Lake District has long been a popular destination in Britain for those wanting to enjoy some rest and relaxation. For non riders, have a look at our Lake District travel guide for activities and attractions locally.  Enjoy the spectacular scenery from a bicycle or for walkers trekking in the hills is an experience you won't forget!
