Day One

Arrive and settle into your chosen accommodation. Each of the properties that we offer are set in and around the Rushmore Estate.

This afternoon you will be meeting the horses, all of which have an interesting story behind them. Once comfortable Angie will be talking to you about your riding programme for your stay. If time permits this afternoon you will have your first ride out through the thick woods away from the hustle and bustle of the day to day work and life. After the ride relax and enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful location - what better way to start your trip!

Day Two

This morning after a good night's sleep and breakfast you will head back to the stables to be reunited with your faithful steed. Today you will be learning at your own approriate level, riding both morning and afternoon and also taking part in the practical tasks of becoming an accomplished equestrian. On rides take your camera so that you won't be disappointed as you will ride through the estate up to the hills of the Cranborne Chase to take in the spectacular views. You will be riding across King John’s hunting ground and over ancient Roman roads, and if you are lucky Angie might take you into the famous ‘circle’. A circle of beech trees that King John planted to mark the crossroads of four Roman roads. You will also view ancient Saxon burial mounds that are situated on the estate.

As you are the only riders permitted on the estate this really is a truly exclusive trip never to forget. There are no cars allowed in this area and you will hardly meet a soul apart from the wonderful wildlife, peace and tranquility. In the evening the local village inn where fires roar in the winter and all the food is home made and locally sourced is an excellent choice for dinner, or you can choose to eat in the house. (see prices below).

Day Three - Day Seven

Choose the length of your stay - see prices below. Each day you will ride twice and continue learning your horse management skills.

Before you go home if you like your wines then its on to sample the delights of 'Museum Wines' which you are able to purchase and take home, or for those that don't drink it's morning brunch.

Rushmore Estate really is something straight out of a Jilly Cooper novel, you need to see it to believe it, a holiday you'll never forget begging you to come back again and again!

For people travelling without a car Angie will take you to the traditional village of Shaftesbury where you can explore the famous 'Gold Hill', relax in one of the quaint little coffee shops or browse the numerous boutique stores.

The Cranborne Chase in Wiltshire is an ancient deer forest where King John came to hunt and within which the "Chase Rights" applied from the Saxon period until 1828. A truly unique area in terms of historical landscape with a rich Archaeological heritage.

The beautiful landscape of Cranborne Chase surrounding the village is good for both walking and cycling. There are several pay and play golf courses in the area including a very pretty eighteen hole course in Rushmore park. The Rushmore Golf Club is a superb 18 hole championship golf course located near Salisbury on the Wiltshire, Dorset borders, offering an outstanding golf and social product and a unique, unpretentious atmosphere quite different to more traditional Golf Clubs. The course is available to visitors seven days a week, subject to other bookings, and they will always be assured a warm welcome.

For field sports enthusiasts the area offers riding, hunting with the Portman, Todber Manor has 6 well stocked course lakes set in the beautiful Blackmore Vale, and there are several high class shoots nearby from whom a day’s shooting may be hired.
