Classical Dressage in Seville

Our instructors are qualified by the British Horse Society, Association of British Riding Schools and the Spanish Equestrian Federation which means that they are trained to always have the horse and rider's safety at heart. Moreover, when it comes to Dressage the knowledge gathered having trained under many masters of various nationalities has allowed them to form their own training and teaching techniques, where the pupils learning and enjoyment is the main priority as well as safety and the horse's well being, while always keeping in mind the principles and objectives of Classical Dressage.

Your hotel in Carmona is the Hotel Alcazar de la Reina. It is located in the heart of the old town and is surrounded by churches, convents and palaces. The standard of accommodation is very high and their reviews are excellent. There is nothing nicer on a warm Spanish evening than enjoying a drink and some tapas in the village square.

Monday

Today you will be collected after breakfast and taken to the riding centre. There will be a short guided tour of the centre and you will be introcuced to the instructors. This will be your first opportunity to improve your riding skills and knowledge on superbly trained Spanish horses. The first lesson will be an assessment from your instructor who will note your good points and the areas that need some work. Once the morning lesson is over relax with a book on the terrace or you are more than welcome to sit by the arenas and watch the daily training of the horses. There is also a private pool available from April - November.

Lunch is served in the beautiful dining room, Andalusian homecooking and excellent wine.

Your second lesson is desigend to improve your school work, position and dressage skills and how to communicate better with your horse.

Tuesday

Following breakfast you will be collected from the hotel for the morning visit to The Royal Riding School in Jerez, renowned throughout the world for their breath taking exhibition ‘How the Andalusian horses dance’. Their painstaking training methods make this show a real delight as the horses perform intricate and demanding movements with effortless grace and control.

A late lunch is included today at around 3pm back at the centre. After which you will be enjoying your next dressage lesson which will take place in the cool of the late afternoon. After this you will be taken back to the hotel.

Wednesday

After breakfast you will be enjoying another wonderful dressage lesson. Then lunch at The Hacienda followed by a second dressage lesson later this afternoon.

Our horses and instructors are prepared to cater for riders of all levels from beginners to advanced. Beginners will hugely benefit from the lessons because although things are kept simple, you know that your basic skills will be correct and solid, enabling you to pursue whichever discipline you choose down the road. At a more basic level, lessons will focus on the riders balance, seat, position and control, while at the same time gaining confidence in the three gaits of walk, trot and canter. When working with more experienced riders, instructors will be giving guidance towards riding your horse in a correct outline, straightness, balance, rhythm, etc. As the week progresses lateral movements such as shoulder in, travers, renvers, half pass, and depending on the riders level and ability, flying changes, pirouettes, etc.
