Sunday
Arrive into Seville airport or Seville train station (Santa Justa) this afternoon, the transfer to the equestrian centre is at 16.30 from the station. Do not worry if your flight comes in earlier you can always spend a few hours happily in Seville. Following collection you will be taken straight to your beautiful four star hotel in the nearby town of Carmona, one of the famous white villages of Andalusia.
Your hotel in Carmona is the Hotel Alcazar de la Reina. It is located in the heart of the old town and is surrounded by churches, convents and palaces. The standard of accommodation is very high and their reviews are excellent. There is nothing nicer on a warm Spanish evening than enjoying a drink and some tapas in the village square.
Monday
Today you will be collected after breakfast and taken to the riding centre. There will be a short guided tour of the centre and you will be introcuced to the instructors. This will be your first opportunity to improve your riding skills and knowledge on superbly trained Spanish horses. The first lesson will be an assessment from your instructor who will note your good points and the areas that need some work. Once the morning lesson is over relax with a book on the terrace or you are more than welcome to sit by the arenas and watch the daily training of the horses. There is also a private pool available from April - November.
Lunch is served in the beautiful dining room, Andalusian homecooking and excellent wine.
Your second lesson is designed to improve your school work, position and dressage skills and how to communicate better with your horse.
Tuesday
Following breakfast you will be collected from the hotel for the morning visit to The Royal Riding School in Jerez, renowned throughout the world for their breath taking exhibition ‘How the Andalusian horses dance’. Their painstaking training methods make this show a real delight as the horses perform intricate and demanding movements with effortless grace and control.
A late lunch is included today at around 3pm back at the centre. After which you will be enjoying your next lesson which will take place in the cool of the late afternoon. After this you will be taken back to the hotel.
Wednesday
After breakfast you will be enjoying another wonderful lesson. Then lunch at The Hacienda followed by a second dressage lesson later this afternoon.
Our horses and instructors are prepared to cater for riders of all levels from beginners to advanced. Beginners will hugely benefit from the lessons because although things are kept simple, you know that your basic skills will be correct and solid, enabling you to pursue whichever discipline you choose down the road. At a more basic level, lessons will focus on the riders balance, seat, position and control, while at the same time gaining confidence in the three gaits of walk, trot and canter. When working with more experienced riders, instructors will be giving guidance towards riding your horse in a correct outline, straightness, balance, rhythm, etc. As the week progresses lateral movements such as shoulder in, travers, renvers, half pass, and depending on the riders level and ability, flying changes, pirouettes, etc.
