Arrive into Seville airport or Seville train station (Santa Justa) this afternoon, the transfer to the equestrian centre is at 16.30 from the station. Do not worry if your flight comes in earlier you can always spend a few hours happily in Seville. Following collection you will be taken straight to your beautiful four star hotel in the nearby town of Carmona, one of the famous white villages of Andalusia.
Your hotel in Carmona is the Hotel Alcazar de la Reina. It is located in the heart of the old town and is surrounded by churches, convents and palaces. The standard of accommodation is very high and their reviews are excellent. There is nothing nicer on a warm Spanish evening than enjoying a drink and some tapas in the village square.
Following breakfast you will be collected from the hotel for the morning visit to The Royal Riding School in Jerez, renowned throughout the world for their breath taking exhibition ‘How the Andalusian horses dance’. Their painstaking training methods make this show a real delight as the horses perform intricate and demanding movements with effortless grace and control.
A late lunch is included today at around 3pm back at the centre prior to your first dressage lesson which will take place in the cool of the late afternoon. After this you will be taken back to the hotel. On the way you will visit a small but very nice and exclusive local tack shop in Carmona. This riding programme is set in an impressive 16th Century Hacienda where the García family will make you feel totally at home.
After breakfast you will be enjoying another wonderful dressage lesson. Then lunch at The Hacienda followed by a second dressage lesson later this afternoon.
Our horses and instructors are prepared to cater for riders of all levels from beginners to advanced. Beginners will hugely benefit from the lessons because although things are kept simple, you know that your basic skills will be correct and solid, enabling you to pursue whichever discipline you choose down the road. At a more basic level, lessons will focus on the riders balance, seat, position and control, while at the same time gaining confidence in the three gaits of walk, trot and canter. When working with more experienced riders, instructors will be giving guidance towards riding your horse in a correct outline, straightness, balance, rhythm, etc. As the week progresses lateral movements such as shoulder in, travers, renvers, half pass, and depending on the riders level and ability, flying changes, pirouettes, etc.
Set off today at 9.00 am and head to the seaside village of Matalascanas, where beautiful Spanish horses will be waiting to take you on the Beach Ride. This ride takes you on an unforgettable route through the Donana Natural Park, one of Europe’s true last wilderness regions and one of the largest wildlife reservations in Spain. The ride will take you over the golden dunes, brushing through fragrant wild lavender, rosemary and thyme. The park is home to deer, boar, fox, lynx, imperial eagles, kites, vultures, storks, flamingos and herons.
If you would prefer dressage lessons instead today this can be arranged. Then it’s back to the hacienda for a siesta by the pool. Rest and enjoy a drink before your early evening dressage lesson.
Please note on this day you can choose to have 2 x dressage lessons OR 1 x beach ride. Please let us know in advance which you would prefer.
Enjoy one final lesson this morning before your transfers back into Seville.
