Staff at the equestrian care about their riders very well. One occasion, we had very experienced riders and less experienced riders in the same group. The staff arranged the riding course according to our level and made sure for every one to ride happily together."
Day One
Fly into Girona or Barcelona airport. You can either hire a car or we can arrange to collect you from Girona airport/train station. If you fly into Barcelona you can easily get the train/bus to Girona for a collection.
You will be staying in small beautifully appointed 'casa rural' just 1 km from the stables. Here all rooms are en suite, there are lovely private gardens and an outdoor swimming pool plus a restaurant, yoga sessions, massage suite and bicycle hire. You may like to eat in the hotel this evening, you can pay for this directly. Riding will commence tomorrow.
Day Two
Today your riding programme will begin. You can walk to the equestrian centre, it is just 1km away, you will then be met by your instructor and his grooms. The centre is located north of Barcelona and is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by mile upon mile of private tracks and pathways - perfect for riding along! The centre also offers excellent tuition including jumping lessons and they are able to cater for total beginners right up to experienced competition riders.
Experienced riders may choose to head off on a longer trek with a stop for lunch / tea. For the less experienced rider we will start with a lesson followed by a break and then a hack out. This is an ideal opportunity for beginners or nervous riders to gain confidence.
This evening you can either eat in the hotel or you can drive into the local medieval town of Besalu. The 12th century Roman bridge over to the town is a real landmark. The restaurants in this region are a gastronomic delight serving a mixture of traditional Spanish and local dishes. Evening rides may be offered at certain times of year.
Day Three
Beginner riders may like to enjoy a similar riding plan to day two, whilst more experienced riders may like to make the most of the wonderful local scenery and head out for a longer ride.
Our instructor is a fantastic horseman who has previously ridden for the Spanish show jumping team, therefore he offers a very high standard of tuition including jumping lessons for the more experienced rider. He competes in the Spanish Western Championships every year, often returning home with medals. His horses often win western, show jumping and dressage competitions.
Day Four
Time to head back to the airport for your flight home as it is, alas, the end of your riding holiday.

For groups of 8 or more staying 3 nights or more:
3 nights B&B in a beautiful Country House Hotel plus 2 full days of riding from £425 per person, single room supplement £55 per night.
Transfers are available from Girona airport or train station from €50 each way, and Figueres train station from €55. A 3 course evening meal in the hotel is €25pp (transfers and evening meals to be paid for directly in Euros).
The stables are a 1/2 mile walk from the hotel. Transfers to and from the stables are available but are not included in the price. If you wish to book these transfers it must be done in advance.
Equestrian Escapes are happy to reserve your transfers for you however, as payment for this service is made directly to the transfer provider this service does not form part of our contract with you. As such, we are unable to accept responsibility for any delays, missed transfers etc.
