Riding in Skipton, N Yorks

Day One

Arrive and settle into your chosen accommodation. You have the option to stay in the 5* country house hotel, a beautiful grade 2 listed Georgian house set in it's own  stunning gardens. It has been renovated and decorated to a very high standard of accommodation. You may prefer to stay in our 4* B&B near to Skipton, on the edge of the scenic Yorkshire Dales. Set in stunning countryside and conveniently located on the edge of The Pennine Way (between Ponden and Gargrave and close to Thornton in Craven). From the B&B these is a pub within walking distance for evening meals. We also have a hotel with pool available, located within very easy reach of Skipton village, ideal for families. All our accommodation options are situated within a short drive of the riding stables.

If time permits, we can organise a ride for you this afternoon, alternatively riding will commence tomorrow. Tonight, you may like to visit the local village of Skipton where there is an extensive range of pubs and restaurants just a short drive away.

Day Two

This morning you will be heading over to the riding stables, located high up on a hill the stables looks down over the beautiful ever changing scenery of Wharfedale, Airedale and beyond. The riding centre is a licensed friendly family run equestrian centre, which is approved by the British Horse Society and offers BHS qualified tuition. Today you will begin the day with a lesson with one of the riding stables instructors in their large indoor arena. This afternoon, after a short break for lunch, you will be exploring this stunning area on horse back. You will be trekking over the Dales and down through the valleys towards Bolton Abbey, enjoying the panoramic views of this unique area. For the more experienced rider there are plenty of opportunities for a canter and a gallop. All the hacks are supervised by a qualified member of staff and are suitable for all levels of rider. Lead rein treks are available for younger riders.

Day Three

Today the horse riding will follow the same format as yesterday with a lesson in the morning then a hack in the afternoon, this holiday is ideal for families. There is plenty to do for non-riders including a visit to Skipton Castle, one of the best preserved castles in England. The Skipton farmers market which brings custom from far and wide to sample the home grown produce of the Dales. Kilnsey Park offers a variety of activites including fly fishing and The Kilnsey Trail for children. They also have a farm shop and restaurant. For those with a sweet tooth Whitakers Chocolates is a family run chocolate manufacturers and shop in Skipton village. And for those golf lovers (I know you're out there) Skipton Golf Club is within easy reach.

Staying at the 4* B&B £245 pp includes 2 lessons and 2 hacks plus two nights B&B

The B&B has a single supplement charge of £15 per night

Staying at The 5* Country House Hotel £285 pp includes 2 lessons and 2 hacks plus two nights B&B

The Country House has a single room supplement of £15 per night

Staying at the hotel with pool £270 pp includes 2 lessons and 2 hacks plus two nights B&B

The hotel with pool has a single room supplement of £40 per night
