Day One:
Arrive today and settle into your accommodation. You will be staying in a luxurious four star farm house bed and breakfast in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. It boasts stunning views across beautiful gardens and fields making it a perfect base for exploring Chester and Cheshire. You have a choice of 3 bedrooms in the farmhouse or the luxury self-contained cottage with four-poster bed.
The farm house is located minutes away from the pretty town of Tarporley with its old coaching inns and top-quality boutique shopping and Chester is only 15 minutes away.
Today we will organise a ride for you at Willington Riding Stables. After a short assessment you will be allocated your horse for a lesson on the stables well-trained horses.
This evening you have a host of local restaurants and pubs to choose from, all within a few minutes drive from your accommodation (and one within walking distance).
Day Two:
For breakfast guests have the choice of a traditional English breakfast or a lighter Continental breakfast. After breakfast you will go to Willington Riding Stables where you will be able to choose between a lesson or a hack along picturesque bridleways and quiet country lanes.
Later this morning you may like to visit the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre; home to some of the top show horses in the country. Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre is set in 50 acres in the heart of the beautiful Cheshire countryside. It is home of the internationally renowned Cotebrook Shire Horse Stud and they have been breeding prize winning Shires there for over 35 years. You will meet the Stallions, Mares and Foals and learn about this fabulous Old English Breed. As well as the Shire horses they have a fantastic selection of British animals & birdlife as well as many rare breeds including Birds of prey, Red Deer, Red Squirrels and Otters. The Alvanley Arms pub is adjacent to the Shire Horse Centre if you fancy something to eat.
Day Three:
After breakfast in the farm house you will be enjoying either a lesson or a hack. After riding, you may like to take a walk up to Beeston Castle taking in the panoramic views of the area which stretch from the Pennines to the mountains of Wales. This evening you may like to choose from a range of dining experiences in the pretty, local village of Tarporley. It has many beautiful restaurants and pubs including Cristiano’s which is one of the best Italian restaurants in Cheshire and The Rising Sun which is renowned for exquisite food.
Day Four:
This morning we will arrange a longer hack for you as you will head to Delamere Forest; Cheshire’s largest woodland. This is a popular destination for local riders and there is an ideally situated horse-friendly café along the route where horses can take a rest and riders can enjoy a coffee whilst admiring the views and watching all forms of wildlife.
This afternoon you may like to visit Cheshire Farm. Cheshire Farm makes award winning luxury ice cream and has over 30 different flavours of ice cream. As well as award winning ice cream they have a selection of animals including llamas, pygmy goats and miniature Sicilian donkeys. There is also a tea room if you fancy a light lunch.
Day Five:
Today, you may like to take a day off from riding and visit Chester Zoo set in 110 acres of award-winning gardens with over 7000 animals and 400 different species including many rare, exotic and endangered wildlife. You may prefer to go to the Blue Planet Aquarium which has a 230ft underwater tunnel enabling visitors to get up close to sea creatures including Sharks. The Aquarium also has shallow pools allowing you to touch Dogfish and Rays. A couple of minutes from the Blue Planet Aquarium is the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village. The Outlet Village has lots of shops to choose from and many designer brands at reduced prices.
Day Six:
After breakfast this morning you will be going to the stables for a lesson.
The Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop is the perfect destination if you fancy afternoon tea. There is a variety of sandwiches, cakes and drinks, not forgetting the wonderful handmade truffles. Charles, who runs the Chocolate Shop, is the third generation of his family to be involved in the confectionery industry. In 1994 Hardy & Co expanded from purely wholesaling into retailing with the opening of The Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop in Tarporley. Since 1994 the business has grown rapidly and has often been featured on the television and on the radio!
Day Seven:
After a morning lesson you may like to travel to the historic city of Chester. Its unique black and white Tudor-style shopping rows draw visitors from around the globe, as well as the Chester Arch Clock; Chester’s best known landmark and the second most photographed clock in the World after ‘Big Ben.’ Tours around the city are available either on foot around the city walls or on the sightseeing bus. Alternatively, you may like to take a boat trip down the River Dee.
Day Eight:
Today you will leaving but before you leave you may like to visit some of the beautiful gardens that Cheshire has to offer.
