This year why not stay in the beautiful South Cheshire countryside with your family and your horses or ponies and enjoy riding on the Bishop Bennet Way. This winding scenic tour through breathtaking countryside is named after an eighteenth century traveller who once explored the tracks that we now ride for pleasure.

You will be staying at the award-winning Millmoor Farm. It is a 17th Century Farmhouse where history and tradition meet fun and relaxation. You will be staying in high-quality self catering cottages at the farm. As Millmoor is a working dairy and beef farm, guests may watch the milking, help feed the calves and collect hen’s eggs for breakfast.
Your horses will also be well catered for in the farm’s stables, paddocks are also available for grazing. You can also ride in the fields of this 250 acre farm. There are a series of marked footpaths around the local fields and trained guide Sam (the sheepdog) will be happy to accompany you and make sure you don’t get lost. The Bishop Bennet Way is close by; popular with the local riders for hacking. The Bishop Bennet Way will take you along quiet country lanes and there will be some off road riding offering opportunities to canter. Alternatively there is the famous Sandstone Trail. Here, the Trail runs alongside the Shropshire Union Canal. The riding along here is beautiful and you will see dragonflies patrolling keeping aerial intruders at bay and the delicately fragranced meadow sweet dotted along the towpath.

There are several excellent local pubs and restaurants for dining out at, including The Wheatsheaf Inn, only ¾ of a mile away. The town of Whitchurch is only 5 miles away and it contains many wonderful restaurants including Etzio which serves Anglo-Italian food and Curshaws at the Park which provides a fusion of modern English and European cuisine in an informal, relaxed atmosphere.
The pretty village of Tarporley is a short drive away and has many high quality dining experiences including Cristiano’s; one of the best Italian restaurants in Cheshire.

In Cheshire there is plenty of things to do for the family including -

Go Ape in Delamere Forest. This involves climbing the trees, sliding across high wires, crawling through tunnels and crossing rope bridges all set high up in the tree tops.

Chester Zoo, set in 110 acres of award-winning gardens with over 7000 animals and 400 different species including many rare, exotic and endangered breeds.

Blue Planet Aquarium has a 230ft underwater tunnel enabling visitors to get up close to sea creatures including Sharks. The Aquarium also has shallow pools allowing you to touch Dogfish and Rays. A couple of minutes from the Blue Planet Aquarium is the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village. The Outlet Village has lots of shops to choose from selling designer brands at reduced prices.

The Crocky Trail is an outdoor adventure trail one mile in length with loads of activities along the way, such as mazes, swings, slides, bridges and tunnels though there is always a way around the more challenging obstacles.

Hawkstone Park and Follies is a fascinating landscape of natural beauty, rare follies and monuments created in the 18th century. The Follies includes Grotto Hill, where you can explore a pitch-dark labyrinth of ancient mines cut into the cliff, the Swiss Bridge, a rustic wooden structure perched over an unnervingly deep chasm and the Monument, a 100ft high column which can be climbed to enjoy panoramic views of up to 13 counties!
