Riding In Pembrokeshire

Riding In Pembrokeshire

If you are seeking a break from the stresses of everyday life within stunning scenery then Pembrokeshire is perfect for a relaxing horse riding holiday.

Few places in Wales can match Pembrokeshire for the richness and diversity of its historic monuments and prehistoric sites.

For thousands of years, the County has been the scene of dramatic and turbulent events which have left numerous tangible reminders in the landscape and thousands of hidden records beneath our feet. Pembrokeshire also possesses a rich archive of written material which brings to life the activities and deeds of those who once lived and fought here.

Pembrokeshire Coast is one of three National Parks in Wales, the other two being Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. It is the UK’s only truly coastal National Park. For centuries the Park has been a living, working landscape where people and nature co-exist. Its spectacular patchwork of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and wild inland hills makes it a place of sanctuary for wildlife.

Two of the famous equestrian names to stem from South Wales are the famous Grand National racehorses TeeForThree and Buywise who you may even bump into riding along the dunes. Horse trainer Rebecca said: “Our horses seem to love walking on our private beach whilst taking advantage of the sea water. Sea water is a hypertonic saline solution and has been proven to draw superficial swelling out of the legs. We use the sea for paddling the horses when they have heat in a leg, or a cut.’ Grand National history shows paddling in the sea can help a horse at Aintree with the legendary Red Rum having had regular dips on his local Southport beach before Grand National wins in 1973, 1974 and 1977.

Pembrokeshire is blessed with beautiful countryside scattered with paths & bridle ways, stunning beaches and quiet roads perfect for hacking out. In addition, the accommodation here is first class and the food is excellent. The stables here will take all levels of rider on the beach - its not just for the experienced rider!

Here is some feedback from a very happy customer, ‘Hi Lindsey, we have just returned from a really lovely few days with Penny and Lawson in South Wales. I cannot recommend this holiday highly enough. Such helpful and friendly staff, lovely horses, wonderful scenery and great hospitality. A holiday break to remember. Thank you so much for the booking.
