Day One
Arrive today and settle into your accommodation. You will be staying in a luxury sef-catering log cabin syle cottage nestling in the heart of Delamere Forest. This tranquil and peaceful location is ideal for horse lovers, walkers, cyclists, and bird watchers with the forest at your doorstep. The cabins are recently built and are appointed to the highest quality. We have two log cabins on site (unfortunately they don't allow dogs) there is a smaller 4 person cabin comprising of a double and a twin room, bathroom and kitchen/lounge. The larger cabin sleeps 6 and has one double room, two twin rooms, bathroom and kitchen/lounge. The attractive villages of Delamere, Kingsley and Tarporley are a short drive away and Chester is just 10 - 15 minutes by car (or train). This evening you can eat in or there are a host of local restaurants and pubs to choose from, all just a few minutes drive away.
Day Two
After breakfast today you will be heading for the riding centre, a short drive from the cottage. The riding programme runs from 10am - 1pm each day. During this time the you will ride twice. You will start the morning with a lesson followed by stable management instruction where you will be learning how to care for and handle your horse or pony safely. Lastly you will go on a hack. You will be under the supervision of an instructor at all times.
Day Three
Today there will be another morning at the stables, allowing you time in the afternoon to take a walk in the forest which is a haven for wildlife including the beautiful small tortoiseshell butterfly, greater spotted woodpecker, white faced darter dragonfly, green woodpecker, siskin and southern hawker dragonfly. This evening if you choose to eat out there is a range of dining experiences in the pretty local village of Tarporley. Here there are a number of good restaurants and pubs including Cristiano’s which is one of the best Italian restaurants in Cheshire and The Swan Hotel which is renowned for tasty pub food.
Day Four
This morning, you will be back at the stables to continue your intensive riding programme. This afternoon you may like to hire some mountain bikes in the forest where it is ideal for cycling. There are plenty of trails around the forest and maps are available. If you are looking for something more relaxing the village of Tarporley has a wide selection of shops where you can enjoy some retail therapy.
Day Five
Today, you may like to take a day off from riding and have a go on the Go Ape course in the forest. This is a high wire forest adventure course of ropes bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides up to almost 35 feet above the forest floor. This is a great way to get the adrenalin pumping, have fun and explore the forest, (booking is essential). For the less adventurous why not tale a trip to the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village. The Outlet Village has lots of shops to choose from and many designer brands at reduced prices.
Day Six
After breakfast this morning you will be going to the stables for another full programme. Later today The Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop is the perfect destination if you fancy afternoon tea. There is a variety of sandwiches, cakes and drinks, not forgetting the wonderful handmade truffles. Charles, who runs the Chocolate Shop, is the third generation of his family to be involved in the confectionery industry.
Day Seven
Today is the last morning at the stables to finish polishing all your new shills. After, you may like to travel to the historic city of Chester. Its unique black and white Tudor-style shopping rows draw visitors from around the globe, as well as the Chester Arch Clock; Chester’s best known landmark and the second most photographed clock in the World after ‘Big Ben.’ Tours around the city are available either on foot around the city walls or on the sightseeing bus. Alternatively, you may like to take a boat trip down the River Dee.
Day Eight
Today you will be leaving but before you leave you may like to visit some of the beautiful gardens that Cheshire has to offer.
